ANIMAL CAREER ACADEMY OF SOUTH FLORIDA offers an instructional pet styling program created by our head instructor and manager, Mia Krauss. Ms Krauss taught at the respected and prestigious, New York School of Dog Grooming, under the auspices of the grooming world Icon, Sam Kohl. The books and training manuals written by Sam Kohl are still considered the standard in grooming techniques to this day. These techniques have been incorporated into the curriculum of the ACA of South Florida by Ms Krauss, along with her more than 30 years experience in many other aspects of pet care. Her background as a veterinary technician, behavioral consultant, proprietor of several successful salons and retail establishments, and instructional video producer, brings to the students of the ACA, an incredible wealth of professional pet care knowledge, which the students are encouraged to take full advantage of.
You may wonder how you can go to school for 300 hours and really learn quality dog styling when other school programs may be longer. Training success in any field is all about the quality of the program, and the people behind the program. The instructors of the ACA take personal attention to the needs of the student as top priority. The teaching method developed by Ms Krauss is unique. The Krauss method has broken down each step in the grooming process so the student quickly learns the styling skills needed to create beautifully finished breed designs or customize a style as the customer desires. “Learning grooming is like building a house…a solid foundation is the key.”
All our instructors are professional stylists who are proficient with the training program. Each instructor aligns their styling skills alongside each instructional step in the program. Each one of these steps builds the framework in which the students develop their skills. For this reason it is essential for both the instructor and the student to follow the program steps in a systematic manner.
